We're glad you're here. When you register for a camp, sign up to volunteer, ask about renting our camp property, or send us a message, you trust us with information about yourself and sometimes your family. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect, why, and how we look after it.
Who we are
Word of Life Belize is a Christian youth ministry based at 20 Orchid Garden Street, Belmopan, Belize. We are part of Word of Life Fellowship. You can reach us at 822-0998 or wolbelize@gmail.com (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM).
What we collect
We only collect what you type into our forms. Depending on the form, that may include:
- Camp and event registrations (Junior Camp, Teen Camp, Youth Fusion Camp, Ladies Camp, Youth Fusion): name, age, phone, email, street address or town, church and pastor's name, food allergies or dietary needs, medical conditions or medication, and an emergency contact (name, relationship and phone).
- Children and teens: for campers under 18 we also ask for a parent or guardian's name, relationship, phone, email and address, and their permission for the camper to attend and to receive emergency medical care.
- Camp Crew applications: the details above plus your availability, skills or experience, and a parent or guardian's name, phone and consent if you are under 18.
- National Volunteer Program (NVP): name, email, phone, address, country, your church, pastor's name and contact details, how long you have attended, your start date, skills, your testimony, and any certificates or documents you choose to upload.
- Contact and ministry enquiry forms (Contact Us, Olympians and others): name, email, phone, church or school, and your message.
- Camp property booking requests: your name, email, phone or WhatsApp, group name and type, group size, the dates you would like, and your message.
We do not ask for payment card details on our forms.
Why we use it
- To process your registration or application and keep a place for you.
- To keep campers safe: knowing about allergies, medical needs and who to call in an emergency.
- To contact you about the camp, event, volunteer role or booking you asked about, including confirmations, reminders and, for rentals, prices and menus.
- To answer your questions and follow up with you as a ministry.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not share it with anyone outside Word of Life Belize. Only our own ministry staff use it.
Where it is kept
Form entries are stored in our website (WordPress) and copies are sent to our ministry email. We also keep registration lists in Google Sheets and Google Drive so our team can organise camps and events. Only internal Word of Life Belize staff can see it.
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was given — for registrations, that is the current camp season plus one year — and then we delete it.
Photos and video at camps and events
Word of Life Belize has the right to take photos and videos at its camps, events and other activities using the ministry's own cameras and devices, and the right to use the photos and videos we take during our activities, for example on our website, Flickr, Facebook, Instagram and in ministry updates.
By registering for one of our camps, events or programs, you give Word of Life Belize your consent to take and use photos and videos of you during our activities as described above. For participants under 18, the parent or guardian who registers them gives this consent for the child.
We are responsible only for photos and videos taken with Word of Life Belize cameras and devices. We are not responsible for photos or videos that other people take with their own cameras, phones or devices.
If you have a concern about a photo or video we have taken, please contact us and we will talk it through with you.
Online giving
Our Give page links to Word of Life Fellowship's giving site (give.wol.org). Gifts made there are handled by Word of Life Fellowship and its payment processor, under their own privacy policy. We do not see or store your card details.
Cookies and other websites
Our website uses a small number of cookies that it needs to work, for example to remember that you have closed a pop-up or to keep a form or giving session working. We do not currently use advertising or analytics tracking.
Some pages show content from other services, such as fonts from Google Fonts, a Google Map of our camp location, a YouTube video, and photos linked from Flickr. When those load, those services may receive basic information such as your IP address, under their own privacy policies.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to:
- see the information we hold about you or your child,
- correct anything that is wrong, or
- delete it.
Just email wolbelize@gmail.com or call 822-0998. We may need to confirm who you are before we make changes. If you are a parent or guardian, you can make these requests for your child.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
